RE: (RL) Clapton

Yeah, but let's be serious - doesn't blues-rock really suck? I thought 'new
wave' bands like TV and VU (and JD and PU and AFOS) {haha}) blew away the
old guard by not playing those five same freaking notes all over again and
going back to good old fashioned Christian major scales for Gods sake!
But then again, without East/West (by , um ,Butterflies?) Marquee Moon would
sound very different, eh?

Early childhood memory: It's 1980 and I am nine years old in the back of my
sisters Pinto while her boyfriend's home-mix 8-track plays most of Clapton's
1978 Lp -the one with 'Lay Down Sally- and a live version of 'Wonderful
Tonight and it was the end of the great era of singer-songwriters. They
played nice songs with stories that everyone could relate to and sing along
to - Jim Croce, Billy Joel, Cat Stevens - and even that Lou Reed guy and his
odd song about colored girls giving head ...

Jeff Beck's gotta be in there somewhere, doesn't he?
Lee
You have to give Jeff props for being the final holdout on the mullet
haircut (him and Spinal Tap)
Best wishes,
